My little friend says..., sound play, 1993
This short sound play contains the personal endeavour of the author “to represent galaxies, animals, planets, minerals, suns, plants, and stars as individual, friendly creatures” in their essential form.
In this case, he undertakes to translate the words of a little bird, who says if someone finds a nice blue feather, s/he can keep it, as the one who lost it will grow another.Diction is an organic part of this personalizing act: the translation of the chirping is delivered with a stifled, deep voice by January, counterpointing the high tones and at the same time placing it in an intimate, funny frame.
